He set out to serve Bharat Maa at eighteen
without giving in to the fads of his teen.
He always dreamed of our nation’s self-reliance
this overwhelming desire forging his patriotic alliance.
He fought wars sans any fears
unmindful of his own tears.
He was always on the border
all set to obey and follow the order.
Because of him, we thrive
not just him, his fellowmen too strive.
For us, he had a lot to face
for us, he is our nation’s grace.
He didn’t enjoy day and night
for he was always ready to fight.
Every day seemed like a good day
that, in turn, became his life’s way.
His jejune mind failed to flash any smiles
for he had to traverse umpteen miles.
And yet, he yearned for the battles to cease
and toiled for the anvils of peace.
